Like Trading Spaces...

...except that we really didn't trade with anyone, the project took longer than 2 days, we didn't have a $1000 budget and Paige Davis wasn't bopping around. But, the results from remodeling Grandma's house are just as amazing as those on tv. Lead by the ever-talented McIntyre clan, and a supporting cast of others, Gma's place is still the house we know and love, except now it's much brighter, organized and updated!

I don't think anyone will miss the old brown shag that is now replaced with a lighter neutral carpeting. And the 2-tone kitchen floor is no more—it's finally one continuous room. Erin guided the team in rearranging furniture and photos into more inviting layouts, proving that there is a place for everything (even if that place is a box that we label and put in the attic...shhhh!). But the most dramatic change can been seen in the kitchen counters, backsplash and appliances! After viewing Adam's handywork, I know I'm on the poured concrete counter bandwagon. It's simply gorgeous.

Here are some photos of the process. I had to leave before the 'final reveal,' but I think you can get an idea of what to expect next time you're in Kentucky.

Protecting the new kitchen floors as Adam and Ross inspect some wiring. Note, that with the new lighting, we might actually be able to see what's going on now!

The counters are in and the backsplash is on its way. It's amazing how much light comes in from the sunporch once the windows were cleaned and repainted.

We needed some extra muscle to set the new sink! Bet we'll fight for dish duty now :0)

Practicing for her next job on the Price is Right, Paris shows off the latest in home appliances. Will we miss wrangling with the finicky old microwave? I think not.

Erin and Paris put together a plan of action for rearranging wall hangings.

The new and improved living room, viewed from one end to the other.
