Harvest

Monnica posted this photo of the boys holding some of their home-grown zucchini. Their garden could feed the entire neighborhood -- carrots, herbs, tomatoes, peppers, cantaloupe and much more.

On the other hand, our tomato and pepper plants that Doug lovingly watered all summer fell prey to hungry squirrels once again. Our total harvest for the season? One yellow pepper. We estimate that it cost about $15. Doug claims it was the most delicious pepper he has ever had.

Maybe you should think of the peppers as a bribe to Mother Nature to let her leave the grass alive?

Not so much. Our grass gave up the fight and died mid- to late-summer as well. I think we are cursed.
