The secret ingredient

I'm not sure if this qualifies as a true recipe, but I am sure it's been appearing on our weekly menu more and more often. Very slightly adapted from Simply Recipes:

Brussels Sprouts with Black Bean Garlic Sauce
2 Tbsp. of olive oil
dash of chili pepper flakes
1 bag frozen brussels sprouts
1 Tbsp black bean garlic sauce
ground black pepper

Place the brussels sprouts on the counter and allow to thaw for 10-15 min., making it easier to cut them in half.

Place the oil and chili flakes into a large skillet and place over medium-high heat. Add the brussels sprouts to the pan and cook for about 3-5 minutes or until the sprouts begin to brown.

Add the black bean garlic sauce and stir until all the brussels sprouts are well coated. Add a pinch of ground black pepper (the sauce is already salty so you probably won't need any salt). Cook for about 30 more seconds. Take off heat and serve immediately. Serves 4. Even Doug enjoys them.
